Boutique Hotel San Roque occupies an 18th-century manor house in the historic centre of Garachico. A restored building where Canarian architecture, contemporary art and the care of a long-standing team come together to create an atmosphere of calm and beauty.
Interior courtyards, wooden galleries, volcanic stone and thick walls shape a building that preserves the scale and character of 18th-century Canarian architecture. Walking through the galleries, the wood creaks underfoot and still releases a faint scent of resin. The restoration respected the soul of the house and prepared it for a new life, without erasing the one that came before.
To walk through the hotel is also to walk through the history of Garachico: every space maintains a direct connection with the original building and the town that surrounds it.
The hotel’s collection brings together contemporary work by artists such as Carmen Calvo, Gonzalo González, Susy Gómez and Cristina Gámez, among others. Each piece occupies a specific place in the house, a staircase, a corridor, a room, and forms part of the everyday atmosphere of the building.
The design furniture follows the same logic: pieces by Mies van der Rohe, Le Corbusier, Mackintosh and Breuer coexist with the historic architecture without imposing. The dialogue between the contemporary and the inherited defines the visual character of the hotel.
